Dressing in costume is one of the most common and recognizable traditions that dates back thousands of years to celebrate one of the oldest holidays, Halloween.  

It was the Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, that were believed to wear the first “costumes” consisting of animal heads and skins, during the bonfire celebration of Samhain.  Even though adult costumes have come a long way from the “animal heads and skins” that the Celts wore, the desire for people to dress up in costume and celebrate a special occasion is still in our blood.

Today, Halloween is not the only time of the year when adults play dress-up!  Costumes are worn to celebrate many of life’s everyday situations; stage and theater, special holidays, reenactments, conventions, school plays, fantasy role playing, etc.

Adult costumes are a great way to commemorate a period of time, whether past, present or future.  More and more adults are realizing the benefits of being able to find that one of kind costume 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  It just goes to show, you’re never too old to play dress-up!
