For thousands of years, Halloween has been observed through ancient Celtic rituals. Its history is steeped in dark pagan beliefs. It’s believed that on Halloween night souls from the dead walked among the living and supernatural beings such as witches and ghosts roamed the earth. The Celts believed that evil spirits pushed the sun away and that witches would gather for the devil’s calling at nightfall, leaving many afraid of the darkness and what it held. If scary movies were non-existent would you really be afraid of the dark? Horror films have been around since the late 1890’s and since that time have strived to elicit this fear from the viewers.  Halloween is known as a time of year when scary movies are in abundance.  It’s the whole Halloween haunting mentality that brings out the ghost hunters and thrill seekers.  Haunted houses, haunted woods, haunted graveyards…they all thrive on darkness and bringing out your minds deepest fear of the unknown. Today of course Halloween is celebrated in a light-hearted way with parties, dances and neighborhood get togethers. And here at you'll find just about every possible horror costume made.  From the truly scary to the sexy-scary, has it all. Scary costumes like the  zombie costume, emperor of evil and prom nightmare adult costume remain popular scary costumes.  Or course, the most popular scary costumes out there continue to be the Slipknot and Jason costumes (from the popular Friday The 13th movies).  In the sexy-but-scary category the skeleton bride, countess carmella and fairy-licious graveyard costumes are sure to be a hit. So this year on Halloween, if you’re afraid of the dark you can still have fun with the good old tractor hay rides and pumpkin patches - you know, the kind of things you do at Halloween during the daytime!
