Wow was it just me or was the first week in January crazy with snow and freezing temperatures? I don't think any state was left out of "below normal" temperatures. Here in the northern part of Kentucky, for the first time since the New Year rang in we finally got our temperatures above the freezing mark! Talk about being bitter cold and let's not forget about the snow. Although I do have to say we didn't get hit near as hard as some of the northern and eastern states - so for that I'm happy! Of course my kids are estatic about the snow. Where there's snow there's snow days off school and for that they are eternally grateful! My son Caden has decided to take up snowboarding and is having a blast. Even though he has moved onto the big leagues snowboarding at a ski area over in Indiana, he still likes to take to the hills in our backyard with his friends. Speaking of his friends, last year for Halloween they all went as different Star Wars characters to their school dance. Their costumes were great! There was five of them dressed as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, a Clone Trooper, Yoda and they just couldn't leave out Chewbacca. The Star Wars costumes were a huge hit! So needless to say I thought it was hysterical when I looked out my back window just in time to see Darth Vader flying down the hill with Chewbacca right behind him! I couldn't stop laughing! The whole neighborhood got a kick out of it!
