Cinderella (March 15, 2015)
Sometimes when you take an old familiar tale and allow filmmakers to retell it with all the magic of modern technology, something truly special can happen. The story of Cinderella began as a very old French folk tale that was originally adapted in 1812 by the Brothers Grimm in their famous book, Grimms’ Fairy Tales. In 1950, Disney made its original animated feature film entitled Cinderella. This musical fantasy adventure became Disney’s biggest commercial success since the film release of Snow White.
This year (2015), Disney has re-imagined and will once again retell the story of Cinderella in live action, as only the great minds of Disney can do. The familiar story promises to offer audiences plenty of adventure, drama, and romance, along with some pretty epic fairy godmother magic. Cinderella is probably one of the most enduring tales with “the good guy” ultimately winning thus proving to us all once again that kindness, courage, and love still can prevail. The story of Cinderella is one that is sure to appeal to audiences of all ages. Many will appreciate the nostalgia of a great story remembered and the opportunity to share a great message of hope through the eyes of a younger generation. Does the glass slipper still fit? In the case of Cinderella, the answer will always be a resounding yes! You can find our collection of Cinderella costumes here.
Furious 7 (April 7, 2015)
Fast cars, beautiful women and plenty of heart racing, explosive action--this has been the formula for success of the entire Fast and Furious movie franchise. Furious 7, to be released in April, promises to bring audiences a heavy dose of high-octane thrills in what looks to be a very action-packed feature film.
Furious 7 is the seventh installment in the very successful Fast and Furious movie franchise. The road to creating film number seven, however, was not without a few pitfalls of its own. Just over halfway into the filming of the project, actor Paul Walker was tragically killed in a car accident. Because the film's creators felt compelled to complete the movie, filming was temporarily put on hold, and the script was revamped. A newly devised game plan allowed the film to be finished without the presence of Paul Walker. With careful rewriting, the use of computer-generated images and the help of body doubles and Paul’s brothers Caleb and Cody, the film was finally finished.
Furious 7 features the close-knit group of characters that were created by Gary Scott Thompson in the original Fast and Furious film. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Lucas Black and Jason Statham will all appear in Furious 7. A new character, played by Kurt Russell, will also be introduced to the film’s story line.
In this latest chapter of the Fast and Furious saga, Deckard Shaw is hell bent on revenge. When Deckard’s brother Owen was killed, (Fast and Furious 6) it left Deckard with only one thing on his mind--getting even with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). The entire Fast and Furious crew is now in peril, as ugly vengeance gets very, very dangerous. The plot of Furious 7 is also said to permanently retire the character played by the late Paul Walker.
There are not any official 'Fast and Furious' costumes we're aware of however we do have a wide selection of "racer" costumes for men, women and children.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 1, 2015)
The latest chapter in the Avengers saga is coming to theatres in late spring (May 1). The film's release will be just in time for moviegoers to start gearing up for what promises to be a summer of bomb diggity movie blockbusters. “The Avengers: Age of Ultron" appears to be very adeptly titled. This film will bring together the beloved assemblage of many of the earth’s mightiest superheroes, as they battle against evil forces as only the Avengers can do. This time, the heroic group will fight against Ultron, who like many villains before him, is bent on destroying humankind. The Avengers will do what they always do--unify in order to save the world from its imminent demise.
The Avengers, including the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye and Black Widow each bring to the table their individual unique superpowers and special skills. Will the nefarious Ultron prove to be the Avenger’s ultimate foe? For those of you who love a good superhero flick, the Avengers always seem to provide the ultimate payoff. With a cast of characters like this, the action and adventure simply can’t be beat. We offer a fantastic collection of Avenger costumes.
Mad Max: Fury Road (May 15, 2015)
Thirty years is a long time to wait. This summer, however, Mad Max will be returning to a theater near you. For those of you who are too young to remember, or just in case you need a refresher, here's the rub. Mad Max was a popular character brought to life in an exciting, action-packed trilogy of films back in the eighties. The original series of Mad Max films made Mel Gibson a household name. Now, thirty years later, the Mad Max movie franchise is offering up its latest installment. Mel Gibson is gone; Tom Hardy is in.
Mad Max: Fury Road picks up the story of Max, who probably would have far preferred to just be quietly left alone in his post-apocalyptic, futuristic world. Peace and quiet are not exactly what Max is going to get, however, as the world around him has gone completely berserk. Obtaining the most basic necessities of life (water, oil) becomes a quest that could cost one his very life. What this place needs is a hero. Max hooks up with a group called The Five Wives, and their badass leader, Imperator Furiosa. (Charlize Theron) This chapter of the Mad Max story is based largely on the fate of The Fives Wives. An action-packed adventure ensues as the group run from some very frightening, not to mention formidable foes, Immortan Joe, (Hugh Keays-Byrne) Rictus Erectus, (Nathan Jones) and Nux (Nicholas Hoult).
The film takes place in an arid, desert dystopia out in literal nowheresville. Based on the trailer, this locale provides the perfect backdrop for the completely gnarly road war that takes place. Expect lots of insane action, red-hot explosions and a lot of cool futuristic cars, many of which will end up getting completely annihilated in various forms of carnage and fiery fray. Mad Max: Fury Road looks to be light on the verbiage and heavy on the action--but in this case that suits us just fine.
Jurassic World (June 12, 2015)
We’ve waited a long time for this film, but for Jurassic Park fans, the wait is finally over. This summer, the fourth and latest chapter of the Jurassic Park series will hit theatres, much to the delight of all those who are seeking out what promises to be a truly epic and exciting summer blockbuster. This latest 3-D science fiction adventure film is entitled “Jurassic World.”
Jurassic World is set on the Isla Nublar, which is located along the Pacific coastline of Costa Rica. The dinosaur theme park has been operating rather peacefully in this idyllic setting for over ten years. When attendance at the theme park begins to drop off, the corporate owners of the park begin to seek out ideas that will boost the park’s attendance. Geneticists are asked by the corporation to create a new hybrid dinosaur in the laboratory that will surely generate some excitement in the public. This new, genetically modified dinosaur is not like any dinosaur that has ever existed in history--but this is only the beginning of the problems that are to begin at Jurassic World. It seems that these scientists are bent on learning the hard way that you should never ever mess with Mother Nature. What kind of dinosaur did these geneticists cook up in their lab? We will all have to wait for the release of the film to see as the deadly results of their creation begin to unfold. Suffice it to say, that in the tradition of all the Jurassic Park movies, very bad things are likely to happen. “If something chases you…run!” Jurassic World hits theatres June 12, 2015. You can check out the official Jurassic World costumes here.
Inside Out (June 19, 2015)
We’ve all felt them. They are called emotions, and they are a huge part of being human. Have you ever wondered where these emotions inside of us really live? According to the creative genius of Pixar and Disney, these emotions reside inside a place called headquarters, deep inside our minds. In the 3-D computer animated comedy, “Inside Out,” Pixar and Disney have given faces, bodies and full-blown personalities to the emotions inside our heads, particularly those of one young girl, Riley Anderson.
Riley has moved from her Midwestern home to the West Coast, making her new home in San Francisco. As Riley adjusts to her new school and life in the city, the emotions in her head are helping Riley along and guiding her on her way. The emotions residing in Riley's headquarters are Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear, and Sadness. Coping with the melodrama that is constantly going on in her head isn’t going to be easy.
If you’ve ever wondered “what is going on in that person’s mind?” (And really, who hasn’t?) Disney and Pixar have cleverly given audiences a glimpse at the possibilities and have done so with a film that is rife with humor, as well as hope. We’ve all got those little voices in our heads. With the help of Pixar/Disney, “Inside Out” will give each of us the chance to explore the inner workings of the human mind and have a whole lot of fun while doing so. Plus, there’s this little bonus--when you see Inside Out, don’t be surprised if you actually learn something about yourself! Here is the collection of Inside Out costumes.
Ted 2 (June 26, 2015)
Remember that favorite Teddy Bear you had when you were little? What would life be like if your favorite fuzzy friend had grown up right beside you, always there, to be your bestie for life? In the comedy “Ted,” we were all introduced to John Bennett’s rambunctious and feisty teddy bear, Ted, who had miraculously come to life after a heartfelt childhood wish. Sounds a bit like a fairy tale doesn’t it? Well, not exactly. You may remember Ted. If not, let us remind you of a few of his better qualities. Ted is boorish, crude, crass, foul, gross and completely indecent--and that is on one of his good days! In spite of his utter awkwardness, Ted has retained one very important Teddy Bear quality. You can’t help but love him-- in spite of his many (many) failings.
The original “Ted” was one of the highest grossing rated R comedies of all time. We can’t wait to see what a second appearance by this sassy stuffy will bring. You just know that Ted 2 is going to deliver all sorts of ultra tacky yet simultaneously hilarious shenanigans to summer audiences. Male bonding has never, ever been quite so uproariously vulgar, and we just can’t wait to see what kind of raunchy misadventures Ted gets into this time. Ted 2 is set to hit theatres on June 26, 2015. And yes, we have an adult Ted Costume.
Terminator: Genisys (July 1, 2015)
He’s baaaack! This summer (July 1, 2015) the fifth installment of the Terminator franchise will be released, “Terminator: Genisys”. This latest Terminator movie hopes to reboot the entire Terminator series, this film being the first part of a new Terminator trilogy.
As the long and terrible war against the machines rages on, it has become clear that in order to save all of humanity, drastic measures are becoming necessary. John Connor, the leader of the resistance, discovers that the machines intend to attack on two different fronts--one that takes place in the past and another one that happens in the future. John will send his most loyal lieutenant, Kyle Reese back to the year 1984, where Kyle will attempt to rescue John’s mother, Sara Connor and save her life. What Kyle finds upon his arrival in 1984, however, is completely different than what he had expected. It seems that Sara has been taken in under the wing of an older Terminator and is a far cry from the vulnerable, scared girl that Kyle was expecting to find.
Terminator: Genisys is bound to bring a few surprises to audiences as well as die-hard Terminator fans. The film promises to try and recapture the vibe of the first two Terminator films. This latest chapter will have a significant emphasis on time travel as the Terminator: Genisys storyline takes place on two separate timelines, one in 1984, and one in 2017. Because of the two different timelines running simultaneously, this film could technically be categorized as a prequel or a sequel. In either case, be prepared for a fresh new take on the Terminator story that is likely to surprise everyone with some very interesting new twists. Sorry, there are not any officially licensed Terminator costumes but we do have a lot of Terminator like masks and makeup kits available.
Minions (July 10, 2015)
During the past few years, we’re pretty sure you’ve noticed what could be described as a bona fide minion invasion. It all began with the films, “Despicable Me” and “Despicable Me 2.” Somehow the most important part of these delightfully funny animated adventures became the minions. Trust us, after the release of these two films minions started popping up everywhere! Everywhere. Minion toys, minion gadgets, minion costumes, you name it. It’s been all about minions, minions, and more minions.
Now the notorious minions are back in their very own prequel/spinoff movie, entitled, of course, “Minions.” “Minions” starts at the very beginning and tells the story of how these yellow, babbling, banana-loving creatures came to be. “Minions” hysterically retells the saga of a long series of woeful (yet funny) misadventures. You see, minions have always loved serving the absolute worst of the bad guys on the face of the earth, including T-Rex, Napoleon, Genghis Khan and Dracula, just to name a few. What you might not realize is that the impulsive and simple-minded Minions have also made quite a few accidental (not to mention oddly tragic) mistakes as they attempt to serve these very evil scoundrels. In fact, most of these unfortunate calamities have resulted in their master’s ultimate demise. Whoops!
After mistakenly killing off all of their rulers, the minions relocate to Antarctica where they try to live a simple, minionly sort of life. The problem is, with no nasty master at the minion helm, the minions find themselves floundering. Without someone to serve in their dastardly deeds, they fall into a state of utter despair and deep depression. About this time, minion Kevin comes up with a plan!
It’s now 1968, and the minions decide to head to a villain convention in NYC in order to seek out a new vicious miscreant to follow. At the convention, the minions meet Scarlett Overkill (Sandra Bullock). Scarlett is chic, sleek and smart--and she is also hellbent on being a super villain. Scarlett hatches a plan so evil that it may even prove to be too much for the lovable bevy of goggled-up henchmen. We carry a large selection of Minions costumes.
Ant-Man (July 17, 2015)
They say that good things come in small packages. Perhaps this will be true with Marvel’s latest superhero, Ant-Man. What would the lineup of summer movie blockbusters be without an action-packed superhero flick? Boring--so it’s a good thing that Ant-Man looks anything but ho-hum. Ant-man promises to give audiences a fresh (and decidedly smaller) look at how saving the world is done--Ant style.
Scott Lang is nothing more than a common thief and a conman. He has potential, however, at least as far as Hank Pym is concerned. Hank is the scientific brains behind the Ant-Man technology and the suit that allows the wearer to shrink himself extremely small while at the same time increasing one’s strength to epic proportions. Cool, huh? Physicist and entomologist Pym sees something in Scott Lang that makes him the perfect candidate for his epic proposition. Dr. Pym wants Scott Lang to become the Ant-Man.
As in most superhero flicks, nothing is ever easy, and there are always assorted foes and obstacles involved in achieving the goal at hand, which is saving the world, of course. Scott Lang can turn his life around and for once, do something completely heroic. By becoming the shrinking superhero, Scott will put his past life skills to a new kind of use, pulling off a heist that has extraordinary consequences for all of mankind.
Directed by Peyton Reid (The Break Up, Yes Man) and starring Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, expect Ant-Man to have a lot of pretty hilarious moments in it. Ant-Man has the potential of being one of Marvel’s more comical films.
Ant-Man costumes are coming shortly! Check back with us next week.
PAN (July 24, 2015)
There seems to be an ongoing trend in Hollywood. It’s not enough to have a good story. At some point, it’s almost mandatory for audiences to know some of the histories that occurred before the original fable ever began. The new film “Pan” promises to give audiences the full back story behind one of the most epic children’s fantasies of all time. “Pan” takes the characters created in the original tale of Peter Pan, created by J.M. Barrie, and gives the whole saga an exciting new twist.
A young boy named Peter has been orphaned and left to be cared for in a miserable orphanage. His mother did leave him with a letter, however, which offers Peter some clues into his future destiny. Eventually, Peter is carried off into an enchanted place called Neverland, where he will make many shocking discoveries about his future life and what many be foreordained for him. Peter realizes that he isn’t just ordinary Peter, but he is destined to become the heroic and legendary figure that ultimately will be known as Peter Pan.
“Pan” stars Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard the pirate, Garrett Hedlund as Hook, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily and newcomer, Levi Miller as Peter Pan. Audiences can expect this family fantasy film to take them on a thrilling adventure as the untold story behind the legend of Peter Pan is revealed.
“Pan” is scheduled to hit theaters this summer, July 24, 2015. You can find a large selection of Peter Pan costumes here.
FANTASTIC 4 (August 7, 2015)
In the movies, much as it is in life, things often don’t go according to plan. The storyline of The Fantastic Four operates according to this basic theme. A group of four teenage scientists are bent on discovery, but with this discovery comes a certain degree of risk. On a mission into outer space, the four teenagers become exposed to a dangerous level of cosmic rays--rays that morph and transform each of them in the most alarming ways imaginable. The teenagers each find themselves significantly altered in a life-changing manner that will transition them into entirely new versions of themselves. The teens now find themselves infused with various amazing superpowers--but are these unique new attributes abilities or will they find them to be somewhat disabling? The human realities that are involved when one inadvertently becomes a superhero will likely play an interesting and important part in the plot of this exciting Marvel Comic based, fantasy-action, science fiction story.
The Fantastic Four tells the tale of Reed Richards, (Mr. Incredible) his girlfriend Sue Storm, (The Invisible Woman) Johnny Storm, (The Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing). Once the teens realize the nature of their new powers, each of them must learn to cope with the realities and challenges that these abilities bring along with them. Reed Richards now can stretch and morph his physical self into innumerable lengths and shapes. Sue Storm can make herself invisible and emit extremely powerful force fields. Johnny Storm finds himself with the ability to surround his body with flames, all while having the ability to fly. Ben Grimm has the great misfortune of having a body that now looks unattractively like stone. In spite of his gross disfigurement, Ben now finds himself with superhuman strength and amazing amounts of endurance.
In true superhero fashion, The Fantastic Four promises to take audiences on an exciting and dangerous adventure. The kindred foursome must learn to cope with their new identities and then pull together in order to confront a foe so great that all of their mental and physical abilities will ultimately be put to the test. Conflicts from within the Fantastic Four and from far more perilous sources will require both resolution and bold bravado. Hey, they don’t call them The Fantastic Four for nothing, right?
The Fantastic Four debuts in theaters this summer, August 7, 2015. There are a lot of options too for Fantastic Four costumes.
Jem and The Holograms (October 23, 2015)
1980’s pop culture fans can rejoice! “Jem and The Holograms” are on their way back--this time dancing and rocking their way to the big screen for an exciting and new live action adventure. For those of you who missed the 80’s, ”Jem and The Holograms” was a hit animated series with it's very own line of corresponding toys--all created by the good folks of Hasbro. In the animated series, Jem is a pop star that has catapulted into infamy--but the new film’s storyline is going to stray just a tad from the original plot found in the cartoon. Gone will be the magic earrings that Jem used to hologram herself from Jerrica Benton into “Jem,” the glitzy rock star. The new version of Jem uses social media and an online video as the catalyst to her new infamy. A whole new generation will surely embrace what the new Jerrica Benton is all about. Hannah Montana, watch out, you just may have met your match!
Jem and the Holograms is a modern-day, live-action film based on the Hasbro classic cartoon. This new reinvention of Jem and her band promises to try and recreate the glitz, glamour, fashion and fame that made the original cartoon famous. Jem and The Holograms hope to create strong female characters that younger audiences can admire. Jerrica Benton, a talented orphan from a small town, is parlayed quickly from video sensation into the life of a global superstar. Grounded Jerrica is not only the front gal of her popular band, but she also is her band’s manager and owner of her music company, Starlight music. Now Jerrica will make her way to Los Angeles as she goes on a venturous scavenger hunt, looking for a message that she hopes has been left by her deceased father.
Jem and the Holograms will be in theatres on October 23, 2015. Costume designs are coming soon!
The Peanuts Movie (November 6, 2015)
As soon as you hear those first few bars of jazz piano that comprise The Peanut’s Theme Song, it will hit you. A big wave of nostalgia will instantly bring to mind the many decades of fond memories that we all have for Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy and the entire Peanuts gang. This November, the first full-length feature film in 35 years featuring the entire cast of the Peanuts comic strip will hit theatres. We couldn’t be happier!
Craig and Bryan Schultz, son and grandson respectively of Charles M. Schultz, have written the script of this exciting new film. The Peanuts Movie pays homage to the characters, imagination and legacy left by the creator of the original Peanuts comic strip, Charles M. Schultz. Animated by Blue Skies Studios of 20th Century Fox, “The Peanuts Movie” will mark the 65th anniversary of the Peanuts comic strip. The 50th anniversary of the first Peanuts animated television special, “A Charlie Brown Christmas also coincides with the film's release.
"The Peanuts Movie" will feature the world's most beloved beagle, Snoopy. Snoopy finds himself once again posing as the WWI Flying Ace as he heads skyward to plunge into battle with his arch adversary, the notorious Red Baron. In a far more grounded quest, Charlie Brown finds himself in the midst of his own epic adventure, as only the truly philosophical and perseverant Charlie Brown can do.
The Peanuts Movie, offered in 3-D animation, will be in theatres on November 6, 2015. Check out these Peanuts Costumes.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (November 20, 2015)
The immensely successful Hunger Games franchise is set to release The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, this November. “Mockingjay” is the third novel in the trilogy of books that are a part of the Hunger Games series, authored by Suzanne Collins. Mockingjay 2 is the second film to be made based on “Mockingjay” and promises to wrap up The Hunger Games saga. Don’t fret about the end of The Hunger Games coming though, as Lionsgate is already working on either a prequel or another sequel. This good thing isn’t likely coming to an end anytime soon.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 picks up the story where The Hunger Games: Mockingjay 1 left off. Katniss has agreed to act as the face of the rebellion, the “Mockingjay” if you will. The film must resolve what has become of tortured Peeta, who is being held captive. Has Peeta somehow turned against Katniss? Mockingjay 2 may very well be largely about the fight to save Peeta’s soul. President Snow also grows in his complete obsession with destroying Katniss, quickly making her realize that his assassination is necessary. Mockingjay 2 will see the rebels engage their enemy and take defiant action, which is what fans have been waiting nearly a year to see. It’s likely that the tributes will get what may be a day of reckoning in the Capitol.
Mockingjay Part 2 will bring some surprise twists to the Hunger Games tale, putting Katniss into situations where she must face not only betrayal, but also an assortment of moral dilemmas. These new trials promise to challenge Katniss in ways she has never experienced, well beyond anything she has ever faced before.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will be in theatres November 20, 2015. Here is our Hunger Games costume selection.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (December 18, 2015)
“There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it?” From the moment you hear the familiar fanfare of the iconic Star Wars theme song, you know something truly epic is about to happen. The third Star Wars trilogy will open late in 2015 with its lead-off feature film, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” This initial film will be the first in the Star Wars franchise to come to theaters since the Walt Disney Company acquired LucasFilm in 2012.
The well-known Star Wars space opera/science fiction saga will pick up the story thirty years after the events that occurred in “Return of the Jedi,” Episode VI. Now all thirty years older, three of the main characters, Hans Solo, Leia and Luke Skywalker will be returning to be a part of this latest chapter. A few new characters will also be added to the Star Wars cast. Luke, Han and Leia have obviously changed quite a bit in thirty years. It will certainly be a curious plot twist to see how these famous Star Wars heroes take on the inevitably dangerous challenges that lie ahead now that they are older and surely wiser.
This film will mark the seventh installment in the extremely popular Star Wars franchise that has now has spanned a couple of generations. Not much information about the actual plot of the new Star Wars film is currently available to the public, with much more secrecy surrounding the new movie than actual information. Perhaps we will see Luke Skywalker training up a new Jedi, and along with the help of Princess Leia and Han Solo, order will be eventually restored to the galaxy. Based on the fact that there are two more promised films to complete this latest trilogy, an ending resulting in intergalactic peace and harmony does seem rather unlikely. Star Wars has arguably more costume options than any other movie this year. Check out these Star Wars costumes.
