Throughout the realm of evil, there reside those creatures that lurk in darkness. An endless variety of vampires exist in the folklore and legends of every culture around the world. While the names and characteristics of these beings vary, their desire is quite the same, to feed off of the living.
The first recorded accounts of vampires circulated in Europe in the Middle Ages. The stories follow a consistent pattern; some unexplained misfortune would befall a person, family or town. Although those primordial vampires have long since disappeared, their legacy remains. Today, vampires still continue to fascinate us and it seems likely that neither science nor wooden stakes will ever rid the world of them.
Hollywood’s movie makers have jumped all over the vampire phenomenon, creating movies that draw us in. Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Blade, Van Helsing and the Twilight Saga have given us vampires that intrigue us. It’s that brooding darkness and mystery that captures our attention. Then there’s the intrigue, lust, immortality and beauty causing us to fall in love with these creatures of the night.
