The official mask of Lon Chaney's clown in the 1924 movie, "He Who Gets Slapped". This clown apparently started out as a scientist who was betrayed by his wife and best friend, taking away his success. He is crushed and becomes a dejected clown who lets himself be slapped in the face, making his audiences squirm.
