Disco Legend Donna Summer passed away this morning after losing her battle with cancer. The Queen of Disco was 63 years young and focused on finishing an album; “She Works Hard for the Money” is one of her hit songs that come to mind when learning that she was recording till the day she died.
LaDonna Adrian Gaines (December 31, 1948 – May 17, 2012) was known by the stage name Donna Summer; she was an American singer/songwriter with a mezzo-soprano vocal range that shaped the disco erra of the 1970’s. Donna Summer was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums to reach number 1 on the billboard chart. Donna Summer was an amazing woman who helped to define the dance music era of the 70’s. The 5-time Grammy winner became and icon and a legend with hits like “Last Dance”, “Hott Stuff”, “This Time I Know It’s for Real” and “Bad Girls”.
