Ahhh, the Eighties. The 1980's were a decade with a wide array of pop culture influences. The strongest impact came from the music scene, and still other significant fashion pressure came from television and the movies of the era. The styles were extreme, but eclectic. The eighties saw everything from mullet hairdos on one end of the fashion spectrum to the glitz and glam of heavy metal hair bands and Madonna on the other. Women of this era were fond of perms, and enjoyed large hairdos adorned with all sorts of accoutrements and accessories. Punk rock influences brought in the use of various really bold, bright color and bold spiky hairstyling. It seemed that the 1980's were a decade of extremism as heavy makeup, heavy jewelry, heavy accessorizing were the order of the day. There was little subtle about the 1980's and if you were going to do something, you should probably "go big." Girls, grab your bright plastic jewelry, fingerless gloves and a skin-tight pair of leggings, acid washed jeans, shoulder pads, neon colors, leggings, leg warmers, and spandex guys get on your rock star hair and studded belt. 1980's, here you come.
