Playboy Costumes

The infamous Playboy Bunny outfit was unveiled upon the opening of the first Playboy Club in Chicago in 1960. It was America's first ever officially trademarked uniform. The strapless form-fitting costume was made from rayon-satin constructed on a merry widow corset, complete with fluffy cottontail, white collar with bow tie, white cuffs and satin bunny ears. A name tag on a satin rosette was pinned over the right hip bone. The uniforms were custom made for each Bunny at the club they worked in.

Playboy Halloween Costumes! Playboy is the most famous and best selling American men's magazine in the world. It is read by over ten million adults in America and published in 25 countries. The magazine was founded in 1953, by a 27 year old Hugh Marston Hefner. It was in December 1953 that he was able to raise enough money to produce and publish from his kitchen table, the first issue of Playboy Magazine. Gracing the cover and centerfold of this inaugural work was the universally acclaimed beauty of the ages, Marilyn Monroe. The first issue was an immediate success that sold out in weeks. The famous Playboy logo, depicting the ceremonial profile of a rabbit wearing a tuxedo bow tie, was created by art designer Art Paul for the magazine's second issue and has appeared on every issue since. Hefner was quoted as saying, "I selected a rabbit as a symbol for the magazine because of its humorous sexual connotation, and because he offered an image that was frisky and playful. I put him in a tuxedo to add the idea of sophistication." In 1988, the last of the Playboy Clubs closed their doors. However, as of early 2011, three clubs have relaunched; The Playboy Club Sands Macao, The Playboy Club Cancun and The Playboy Club at the Palms in Las Vegas. All three opened to huge success. Unfortunately, by early 2014, they had all closed down.
