The 40's and 50's Costumes

The 40's fashions were heavily influenced by World War II. One of the most significant examples of wartime fashion were the uniforms worn by military member and their brides. The groom would wear his service uniform and the bride would wear a simple office skirt suit. The 1950's fashion for men was the "bad boy" look of a white t-shirt, jeans and a leather jacket (with the collar up of course) or the "good guy" look of a letter sweater, jeans and penny loafers.

The 40's and 50's Halloween Costumes! The 1940's era is frequently referred to as the Big Band era. Swing music was fashionable and reflected the way people dressed. A group known as the Incorporated Society of Fashion Designers created over 30 different new utility clothing designs. They made the most out of the simple clothing style trend of this time. The 1950's was a decade filled with rock-n-roll music and at the heart of it all was American Bandstand with Dick Clark. It showed teenagers everywhere how to do the latest dance steps such as; the Twist, the Hand Jive and the Stroll.
