My last blog I talked about Spring Break and you know what comes with that...Easter!  This year Easter falls on Sunday, April 12th and I'll be celebrating with my family in Florida.  I love going to mass on Easter and seeing all the little girls dressed in their Easter dresses and bonnets and the little boys look adorable in their shorts and vests.  Since we'll be visiting my sister in Florida she's decided to have a big Easter party for us.  The Saturday before Easter her neighborhood always has an Easter parade where all the children in their Easter finest carry baskets and walk down the sidewalks getting candy.  It's sort of like Halloween on Easter.  What's neat about it is that all the neighbors sit at the end of their driveways and give out candy instead of the children having to go door to door. That way it looks more like a parade.  Kids decorate their wagons, bicycles and scooters with streamers and balloons.  At the end of the parade everyone meets at the community pool where the Easter Bunny is there for the children to get their picture taken. My sister's little girl just turned one and she already bought her the Tom Arma White Rabbit costume from for her to wear in the parade.  She sent me a picture of her in it and I can't even begin to tell you how adorable she looks!  I can't wait to see her in April! My favorite Tom Arma Costumes for Easter are:
  • White Rabbit
  • Sheep
  • Flower
  • Monarch Butterfly
Of course the Flamingo is a must if you live in Florida! Tom Arma has the most adorable costumes for children and they're not just for Halloween.  Any day of the year these costumes are perfect and so unbelievably cute!  And remember you can only buy Tom Arma Costumes exclusively through  So don't delay order your's today!

Spring Break - Florida Style!

Well, it's that time of the school year again that the children love - spring break!  While parents are busy putting the finishing touches on their travel plans the kids are busy counting down the days.  This year we've decided to take the kids to Florida with a big group of our friends and their children. Because flying is so expensive, especially with three kids, we're packing up the minivan and heading south.  Of course my husband had to pick a city in Florida that is just about as far south as you can go on the Gulf side, Ft Myers Beach.  From our house the drive can take as much as 18 hours or as little as 15 depending on who's driving.  My husband likes to drive straight through with minimal stopping, however I enjoy stopping for actual dinners, not just drive thru's.  When you have three kids in the car you have to stop and let them stretch their legs and get some of the energy out or else the end up taking all that energy out on each other while we're driving.  And just like his father before him, my husbands favorite line while driving is, "Don't make me turn this car around."  By now the kids are pretty familiar with this line and knowing that he really won't stop when we're closer to our destination than home, it doesn't really have much affect. This year's Spring break will put us in Ft Myers the week of St Patrick's Day.  It works out perfectly because I can still have our annual family party the weekend before we leave.  A couple that is going with us love St. Patrick's Day and want to throw a party on the beach while we're there for the kids.  They'll love it and it will be great letting the kids get in on all the fun. has everything you'll need to throw the best party.  St. Patrick's Day costumes, accessories and decorations galore are right at your fingertips!

Well Valentine's Day has come and gone and the stores are already getting their shelves ready for Easter.  Whether you decided to make it a romantic couple weekend or a family fun weekend, I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day! Now onto Mardi Gras, February 24th!  Talk about a party atmosphere in New Orleans!  Wow that is one city I would love to visit during Mardi Gras.  I've been there before and have done the whole Bourbon Street thing, but would love to see the parades and parties and the craziness associated with Fat Tuesday!  If you can't make it to the biggest party in the world in New Orleans, then by all means bring the madness of Mardi Gras to you!  Throw a Mardi Gras theme party right in your own back yard.   Decorate in the Mardi Gras colors so well known throughout the country of purple, green and gold.  Balloons, tablecloths, beads, hats, masks and noisemakers all in these colors will make your partygoers feel as if they're in the French Quarter.  Don't forget the music!  It can't be a Mardi Gras party without the music!  It's not one type of music but various sounds played together that make it unique to Carnival in New Orleans.  Rhythm and blues, jazz and brass/funk get people up and dancing.  Whip up some great Cajun cuisines like Jambalaya, Gumbo or Crawfish Boil.       However, the ultimate Mardi Gras party, rest assured, is in the costumes!  The King's Jesters can be found running around everywhere.  Masks and costumes made of sequins, metallic and lots and lots of feathers.  Around the necks of your partygoers will be feathered boas and multicolored beads.  Dressing up in the Mardi Gras theme is so much fun! has everything you'll need for all your Mardi Gras party needs!  From Mardi Gras masks and jester hats to feathered boas and Mardi Gras beads.

Surprise, surprise, surprise it's Friday 13, 2009 and I'll give you two guesses at what remake slasher film is being released today - and the first one doesn't count!  Does Camp Crystal Lake and a hockey mask give you any ideas?  You guessed it - Friday the 13th, and if you didn't guess it then you must have been living under a rock for the last 29 years.  This popular film franchise has lasted almost three decades and is still going strong. Once again Jason Vorhees is evil reborn and is back on his old stomping ground in this grisly campsite killing spree.  As usual the movie will be a big hit with the young audience that has followed the Friday the 13th series.  Did you know that the original movie Friday the 13th was released in May 1980 and since then 12 sequels (including today's) have followed.  My nephew went to the movie theater at midnight last night to catch the first showing and said the theater was packed!  So, no matter what the reviews say by the professional movie buffs, people are going to flock to this slasher film just because.....Jason's back! If you really want to get into the Jason theme of the movie get a Friday the 13th hockey mask or really go all out with the whole Friday the 13th Jason costume from  The Jason trademark hockey mask is always a big hit on Halloween too!

Luck of the Irish!

St. Patrick's Day is March 17th and although it's still a month away it's never too early to start getting all your "green" together for the party's, dances and parades.  Every year my family throws a huge St. Patrick's Day party the weekend before.  It's actually a lot of fun planning and preparing everything from the decorations to the food.  My grandma on my mother's side was as Irish as they come.  Her name was Mary O'Brien and she was an amazing lady with a heart of gold.  She passed away a few years back, so now our annual St. Patrick's Day party is dedicated to her memory (which makes it even more special).  Costumes are always a big hit at our party and there's never a shortage of the Lucky Charms Leprechaun costume!  Even though the leprechaun really isn't an Irish take on St. Patrick's Day (it's more of an American tradition), it's still fun to see everyone dressed in costume and having fun.   Some other great ideas are green balloons, green tablecloths, green lights and of course the green beer!  What's St. Patrick's Day without green beer? Start a St. Patrick's Day tradition with your friends and family this year whether it be a party, parade or dinner. has everything you'll need from St. Patrick's Day costumes and accessories to decorations.  Make this St. Patrick's Day one to remember!

Happy Groundhog Day!

Well it's official, Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow...   According to German folklore, if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on February 2, the Christian holiday for Candlemas, winter will last another 6 weeks, and that's exactly what happened this morning in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania at approximately 7:30am.   Every February 2, people gather at Gobbler's Knob, a wooded knoll just outside of Punxsutawney (btw - Punxsutawney is located in Western Pennsylvania, about 80 miles northeast of Pittsburgh), to witness Phil, the groundhog, emerge from its burrow to predict the weather. I just love the whole idea of this "holiday".  I've always known about Groundhog Day, but never really thought that much about it.  Well that's not the case in Pennsylvania!  I had no idea that cowds as high as 40,000 people have been gathering together to celebrate Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney since 1886.  And this year they have even more reason to celebrate with the Pittsburgh Steelers winning Superbowl 43 last night in Tampa.   Here are some more fun facts about Phil the infamous Groundhog:
  • His full name is actually "Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Sage of Sages, Prognosticator of Prognosticators and Weather Prophet Extraordinary".
  • For most of the year, Phil lives in a climate-controlled home at the Punxsutawney Library.  He is taken to Gobbler's Knob and placed in a heated burrow underneath a simulated tree stump on stage before being pulled out to make his prediction.
  • Phil is reported to be more than 100 years old.
  • His wife's name is Phyllis.
Don't forget that Valentine's Day is in a couple weeks!  Men, it's still not too late to pick out a sexy outfit for that special lady in your life.  From sexy to sassy has what you're looking for!  And ladies if you want to surprise that special man in your life, well you've come to the right place.  Check out all the beautiful Valentine's Day costumes that will make this February 14th a night to remember!
