Shoes Make the Costume!

Everyone knows how important accessories are to give your outfit that finished look.  Well, the same goes for Halloween costumes.  What goes on your feet is just as important as what goes on your body. I know that with young children comfort and safety are way more important than style when they are running around the neighborhood trick-or-treating.  They could care less what's on their feet as long as they can run fast and keep up with the other kids.   My children usually wear their tennis shoes no matter what their costumes are.  However, my oldest daughter Sydney is getting to the age when style does mean something and she would rather look cool with a nice pair of flat boots or sandals depending on what her costume is. If you really have a great costume this year and want it to stand out be sure to find a pair of Halloween shoes that will do that.  Shoes really do make the costume! At all the hard work of figuring out which shoes go with which costume isn't a problem.  Every costume is pictured with the shoes or boots designed to make the costume complete.  You can even order the shoes at the same time you order your costume without even leaving the costume page.  Everything is right there on one page to make it as easy as possible for you to get the complete look of your Halloween costume.

We All Scream For Ice Cream!

Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month and that the third Sunday of the month is always considered "National Ice Cream Day"?  Well low and behold yesterday was the third Sunday - did you celebrate with an ice cream cone?  Even though it's not a National holiday (which I can't understand) it's by far the best tasting one! In searching online to find the origins of this wonderful holiday I found that it was originally proclaimed so by President Reagan in 1984.  No wonder President Reagan's was so popular!  There's not a person out there that doesn't remember running out to meet the ice cream man the minute you heard his truck coming up the street playing with the song "The Entertainer" blaring through big speakers on the roof.  I remember summers in our neighborhood just waiting for the ice cream man to come down our street when I was little and my children do it today.  It's a tradition that I hope sticks around for a long time.  Although I do remember the ice cream being quite a bit cheaper when I was little compared to the prices on the side of the truck now! To show support for this awesome "unofficial" holiday, has an Ice Cream Cone Costume complete with sprinkles!  It is the funniest costume and believe me you'll be the talk of town for National Ice Cream Month!

Amazing Yard Haunts!

October isn't just a month for Halloween costumes, but Halloween decorations as well.  It used to be you would carve a pumpkin and put it out on your porch for Halloween night, but not anymore!  Decorating your yard for Halloween has become hugely popular over the years.  Yard haunts, haunted driveways, creepy culdesacs - no matter what you call it decorating your yard for this holiday is the way to go!  You can make your yard into a spooky graveyard or evil cemetary in a matter of hours and it's so much fun to do.  We do it every year and the neighbors have now got into the Halloween spirit and have begun to spook their yards up as well.  Two of the most important things you'll need to put the finishing special effects on any yard haunt is a fog machine and good scary Halloween music.  Nothing says bloodcurdling, spine-chilling and frightening more than a haze of fog floating along the ground over your makeshift front yard cemetary all the while eerie music playing in the background.  So this year, don't just decorate the inside of your house for Halloween, decorate the outside as well!

The Big Screen Movies are Raking It In!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen once again held on to the top spot at the box office this past weekend but shared the title with another great movie, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs.  Both earned an estimated $42.5 million over the July 4th weekend!  I'm a big fan of both Transformers and Ice Age so it was a fun weekend here!    I've been reading everywhere that this Transformers sequel is the "worst-reviewed movie to ever make the $400 million club."  Well that just goes to show you what the critics like and what the mass movie-going population like are completely different.  Who cares what the critics say!  If that many people are going to see the movie then they must be really wrong on this one!  We loved it.  My son is a huge Transformer fan and has recruited his dad and I into that same category.  It really is a great movie! However, my all time favorite movie - the one that can make you belly laugh through the whole thing - is Ice Age!  Sid the Sloth is hilarious!!  So it was no surprise to me that this new 3rd sequel Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs did well at the box office.  What's so neat about Ice Age is that even though it's a Disney/Pixar animated series the humor is for children and adults alike.  You never stop laughing! Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is coming out on July 15 and is sure to be a huge hit!  People of all ages just can't seem to get enough of old Harry!  This will be the 6th novel turned big screen hit by J.K. Rowlings.  They're saying this might be just the movie to beat out Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at the box office.  Well we'll just have to wait and see, won't we! Movies make such a big impact on Halloween that movie costumes are flying off the shelves.  Transformer costumes and Harry Potter costumes will be huge this Halloween.  If you plan on attending the movie premiere of Harry Potter be sure to get all your Harry Potter costume and accessory needs at   Both movies make for great group costumes too!
