Creating a Wednesday Addams Costume Look

They say that Wednesday’s child is full of woe, and in the case of Gomez and Morticia Addams’ eldest child, Wednesday, well suffice it to say, this girl just might hate everything! No matter, because when it comes to combining super cute with super creepy for a Halloween costume, Wednesday’s look captures it all. Follow our super simple step-by-step instructions for a “Wednesday” look that just can’t be beat.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Creating a Wednesday Addams Costume Look:

Step One:  Begin your makeup look with a clean and dry face. To capture Wednesday’s ultra pale skin look, choose a makeup foundation that is about 2 or 3 shades lighter than your natural skin tone. For our featured Wednesday look, we have used Celebre’s Ivory Bisque. (#DD405) Using a damp sponge, apply the makeup to the entire face. Since you are using such a light shade, make sure you apply the makeup all the way up into the hairline, on the ears and down onto the neck so that your color appears uniform.

Step Two:  Next we will apply makeup to the eyes. Wednesday is very young, and her look is very natural, so the eye makeup we have chosen will accentuate this youthful look. Begin with an Eye Cream in Creamy Beige. (#DD342) Blend this beige color onto the eyelids and up to the eyebrows. Blend in well with an eyeshadow brush or a sponge tip applicator.

Step Three:  Next, using a Slate Grey Eye Cream (#DD125) and an eyeshadow contour brush, apply a small amount of this shade into the crease area of the upper eyelid and blend in very well.

Step Four:  The next step is to line the eyes. We have used brown eyeliner (#DE02) to add emphasis to the eyes while still maintaining a very natural look. Line carefully along the upper lash line and then line underneath the lower lashes as well.

Step Five:  To give Wednesday a wide-eyed look while still maintaining her youthful look, we have used the “defining” lashes from the six pair eyelash set. (#ALG11978) To apply the lashes, apply a thin stream of eyelash glue along the edge of the lash. Allow the glue to set for a few seconds and then carefully using your fingers or tweezers, press the lash gently along the upper lash line.

Step Six:  To define Wednesday’s lips and give her a little color, we have used a Lip Cream in “Natural.” (#DD103) Brush the color onto the lips with a lip brush. Blot the lips with a tissue and apply clear gloss if desired.

Step Seven: Apply a setting powder to the entire face and neck to set the makeup. To accomplish this, we have used Colorset Powder by Mehron. (#DD321)

Now it’s time to get dressed in your favorite Wednesday appropriate attire. Our Wednesday is wearing the Gothic Darling Costume (#UA85562) that comes complete with a fitted collared black dress and a black pigtail wig. It’s a good idea to pick up a wig cap (#FW92045) to tuck your hair out of the way before you try to wear a costume wig. Finish your Wednesday look with a pair of knee socks and dark shoes and wa-la--you have a costume look that everyone will recognize, and you will have fun wearing.

Start practicing your angry face--because Wednesday doesn’t get excited about much of anything--unless it’s her pet spider, her headless dolls or perhaps her deadly judo hold. Wednesday has an obsessive fascination with anything creepy or macabre--thus, she is, of course, the perfect accompaniment to your next Halloween party--so why not bring this Addams Family favorite character to yours?
