Creating the Perfect Marge Simpson Look
The Simpsons is televisions longest running sitcom and with good reason. Let’s face it; there is something about this crazy cartoon family that we can all relate to. Marge Simpson, the matriarch of the Simpson clan, has a distinctive look that is perfect for Halloween dress up--but she is so...yellow. Don’t be intimidated by all that makeup because we’ve put together step-by-step instructions to help you create a Marge Simpson (or any other Simpson family member) very easily!
Here are the items we're using to create this Marge Simpson Costume look:
Step-by-Step Instructions for Creating a Marge Simpson Costume Look:
Step One: Begin your makeup look with a clean and dry face. Pull your hair back off your face and tie it back to get it out of the way and to protect your hair from getting makeup on it.
Step Two: Using a glue stick, apply a layer of glue to your eyebrows and smooth the brows down with a pencil or the end of a brush. After the glue has dried, powder the brows with a setting powder. (#DD321) Apply a second coat of glue stick to the brows and let dry. Once again, powder the brows with a setting powder. Brush off the excess powder with a fluffy brush.
Step Three: Using a round object such as a cup, trace the shape of Marge Simpson’s eyes onto the face, making sure the two sides of the face match up as much as possible. If you make a mistake, remove the line and try again. Once you are satisfied with the pattern, you are ready to move on to the next step.
Step Four: Using Paradise Paint in Yellow (#DD532) paint the entire face, neck, chest, and arms using a damp sponge. The color goes on smoothly using a dabbing motion as opposed to a stroking motion. Once you have thoroughly covered your face and body areas, let the paint dry thoroughly. Apply a second coat wherever it is needed.
Step Five: Using Clown White Foundation (#DD04) and a brush, first paint over the eyebrows, completely whiting them out. After you have thoroughly covered the eyebrows with white makeup, fill in the rest of the eye area circle.
Step Six: After you have finished whiting out the eye circle area, it is essential that you set the makeup with a good setting powder. To accomplish this on our Marge Simpson, we have used Colorset Powder by Mehron. (#DD321)
Step Seven: Next, using a skinny brush and Black Paradise Paint (#DD515), line around the white area of the eyes. This will give Marge Simpson the animated, cartoony look that she is known for! After you have lined around the eyes, then it’st time to paint on some eyelashes for Marge. Marge typically has four eyelashes on each upper eyelid. Refer to a picture of Ms. Marge if necessary to get the placement of the lashes just right.
After you have finished painting on the eyelashes, it’s time to line the mouth. Paint on a smile line out from the sides of the mouth and paint a line of black across the center of the mouth to finish.
Now it’s time to get into your favorite Marge Simpson look. For our Marge Simpson, we have first put a wig cap (#FW92045) on our model to cover her natural hair. Our model is wearing a simple light green dress (#UA8002), accessorized with a pair of red shoes. (#HA49) Marge Simpson wouldn’t be Marge Simpson without her signature royal blue beehive hairstyle. To get the perfect Marge hairdo, we have used the Giant Beehive Wig in Royal Blue. (#LW485)
Marge is never far from her legendary partner in crime, Homer Simpson of course! Our Homer is wearing the Homer Simpson Costume, (#DG85383) which comes complete with a jumpsuit and a very cool mask!
