Creating a Ms. Captain America Costume Look

Captain America could arguably be the most patriotic of all the superheroes. Captain America was first seen as a lively, intentionally patriotic comic book character that was created in 1941 by Marvel Comics, during the time of WWII. The alter ego of Steve Rogers, Captain America came to embody human perfection with the help of a secret serum during the United States war effort. Captain America was likely considered the most popular comic book character of all during this time period and his popularity has not waned. Captain America has parlayed himself into a new and modern era, still as a fresh and decidedly relevant character.

Captain America made pretty big news in theatres this year. Not only did he star as one of the key players in "The Avengers", one of the biggest superhero films of the summer, but it wasn't so long ago that he starred in his own feature film, "Captain America: The First Avenger" which hit theatres in 2011. It seems that this patriotic superhero is just getting started, and his popularity is as robust and thriving as ever.

To get girls in on all the fun Captain America action, we have designed a Ms. Captain America makeup look that goes perfectly with our female versions of the Captain America costume. Created in the appropriate patriotic colors of red, white, and blue, this makeup look is going to help you to really sparkle and shine in one of the most beloved and exciting costume looks of the season. This makeup look is really easy to do when you follow our complete step-by-step instructions.

How to Create a Ms. Captain America Costume Look

Follow These Steps to Create this Look

Step One:  Apply a basic foundation to your face, using a damp sponge. Our model is wearing Mehron's Fair Female Foundation (#DD05) but for best results, you will want to select a color that most closely matches your own natural skin tone.

Step Two:  Using Mehron's Paradise (Basic) Palette (#DD507), add a little water to the white color and using a small brush, apply this color to the eyelids, up to the brow, as a base.

Step Three:  Using the blue color found in the same Paradise (Basic) palette (#DD507), add a little water to the blue color and apply this to the eyelids beginning at the outer edge and blending inward toward the nose. Using a thin liner brush and this same color of blue thinned with a little water, line the eyelid below the lower lash line.

Step Four:  Using the black color found in the same palette (#DD507) and a liner brush, thin the paint with a little water and line the upper eyelids at the lash line. Extend the line out from the eyelids a little for a more dramatic effect.

Step Five:  Using Mehron's Cheek Cream (Shell Pink) (#DD140), dab the color onto the apples of the cheeks with a damp sponge.

Step Six:  Using a small brush, brush Mehron's LIP Color Cream in Apple Red (#DD103) to the lips. For extra sparkle as well as shimmer, add Glitter Wear Red glitter on top of the lip color. (#DD297)

Step Seven:  Using the blue, red, and white colors found in the Paradise (Basic) palette, paint on a shield as follows. Start with painting a small circle with the blue color. Outline this circle with a small brush using the red color. Let dry thoroughly and then paint on a white star shape in the center of the shield.

Step Eight:  Apply glittery false eyelashes if desired. (#EA94)
